The Fine Art of Fiber

Come see us at the wonderful Fine Art of Fiber at The Chicago Botanic Garden. This annual show combines the talents of three fiber arts guilds including The North Suburban Needlearts Guild. I have an entry into The Explorations in Fiber exhibit as well as a table in The Boutique. The Explorations in Fiber exhibit is on Trees. Remember that book you read to your kids The Giving Tree? My entry in the exhibit is a large Kumihimo braided tree nodding to that book. Incidentally, my cat Stiller loves the tree, and has spent hours under it, purring, kneading and napping. He seemed a bit concerned as I packed it up to take to the show.

My table in The Boutique is straight past the checkout counter. You can check in at the desk outside that room for a complete list of vendors. It is really just a small selection of my jewelry, so just ask if there is something you might be looking for. Since I am getting over a bout of laryngitis, I will be there everyday for a shortened time, most likely around 12:00-4:00, but if I’m not there at the table, you can ask another vendor for help. The show is open from 10:00-5:00 November 3-5th.

Festival of the Arts Glen Ellyn August 26th and 27th

Coming up! More shows! Glen Ellyn’ s Festival of the Arts featuring Yarn and Folk. The show is from 10-5 Saturday, and 10-4 Sunday August 26th and 27th.

There will be fiber artists knitting, as well as a regular art festival. I enjoy knitting, and am looking forward to meeting knitters, as well as any shoppers interested in enameling or metal smithing. I have even made some great fibulas to use a scarf pins for anyone interested. I will be at booth 44. Come look for me!

Deerfield Art Festival

I was just working today on my set up today for the Deerfield Art Festival. I’m so excited. For this show I’m concentrating my display solely on my enamels. I teach enamels at Lillstreet Art Center, as well as own my own kiln which I use in my kitchen alcove. No one has a better alcove than I do! I have light, frequent visits to the kitchen by my family, and lots of ventilation. After that, I complete the work by heading down to Lillstreet where I rent a bench in the group metals studio. How lucky I am! These amazing fellow artists give me ideas on technique, and offer a wonderful fellowship fostered by our common joy in carrying out our craft. At Lillstreet I complete the settings that help set my work apart from so many other enamelists.

Ok. Now for the details of this weekend’s Art show. It can be found at the corner of Deerfield Road and Park Avenue in Deerfield. It is open from 10am to 5pm. The weather this weekend promises to be absolutely perfect! Please come check it out!
